THE WORD OF AFFIRMATION
A WORD ON AFFIRMATIONS
And be not conformed to this world: but being transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2
Today it is a very popular trend to speak positive affirmations, and engage in positive self-talk. I believe this has its place and, when done with the properly prepared mind and heart, can have positive benefits. However, it can also be a tank never filled, if we only pour self into ourselves. Filling self with self is like turning on your tap and trying to overflow the ocean…a completely futile effort.
Speaking God’s Word daily is positive affirmation that reminds us how Great Our God, and His love for us truly is.
It may be a struggle to put together a list of 5 affirmations, dependent solely on ourselves, so we add another 20 in a fluff list that is dependent on the world or other people in order to fulfill us. The source of these affirmations has NO strength and will never create love for self or others, will not heal the hurt, nor ever fill the void.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Matthew 5:6
The pages of the Bible are filled with God’s affirmations for us, His affirmations and promises for love, freedom, wholeness, goodness, peace, healing, forgiveness, grace, mercy, strength, power, sound mind, fearless living, eternal life… the list is never ending.
God is the ONLY source that is limitless and never fails. His Word reminds us of our immense value to Him and how priceless we are to Him. It reminds us of His unfailing love.
Put away your practice of following self or other fallible people, searching darkness to fill the void inside of you with light.
Find ALL you seek in God, search the passages that will introduce and lead you to Christ Jesus and to the only life, truth, and fulfillment that is eternal.
Speak them daily and add your own words of praise for Him as you feel led to do.
