“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest .” Joshua 1:9 KJV
We seem to be under the disillusion that if it is God’s will for us then it will be easy. There will always be opposition to the will of God. We need to settle that fact in our heads and hearts and not be discouraged, but be even the more determined to overcome attempts by the enemy to stop our mission for God.
I believe we somehow imagine that our ultimate calling or destiny will be presented in a magnificently wrapped box and tied with a glamorous red bow.
Be wise and understand that our destiny may or may not ultimately be magnificent in the eyes of the world. Our calling can and most likely will look like a small step of obedience for a simple task. Perhaps, as we walk in obedience, God will entrusted to us more, but if our assignments are of God, all will glorify the Father.
We have gotten what our calling is confused with how God will use us to carry it out in our life.
SPOILER ALERT 🎚
Our destiny and purpose was determined at the Cross. God has given us all the same commission. To accept Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and take the the gospel to all corners of the world.
We are to go and tell the lost about Jesus, so they can come to know Him as their personal Savior.
And He said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15
If the enemy can keep us wringing our hands over “what” our calling is, then he has defeated us and our usefulness to the body of Christ.
The only thing we, His Children, must discern is in what way has He called us, can use us, to do what He has called us to do.
Once we have sought God and He has given us direction…stand on it. Claim it and speak of it in faith. Begin to walk it out. Match your spiritual walk up with your spiritual talk.
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
Like Joshua speak boldly and confident in regards to what God has charged you to do. Be persistently insistent as was Elisha. In both cases they had to take what God had already given to them. They did this by spirit and by physical action.
Now I am not suggesting you get physical aggressive, but if God has revealed something to you that He wants you to do then take action. Let your actions always line up with scripture.
We can not be double minded. James 1:8 AKJV tells us “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” We cannot be unstable and successfully fulfill our God given destiny.
Many times when God has positioned us for a particular calling, at such a time, He will give us opportunities to back-off or back-out. He created us with a free will and He will test us to see if we will follow His lead or not.
Consider when Joshua succeeded Moses, and when Elisha succeeded Elijah.
Joshua had to take the promise-land by faith in action. Elisha had to choose, or to establish, three different times that He was staying. He had to take His portion.
God has given you and me a destiny.
It is right there. It is ours. Take It!
Follow Gods will for your life.

SCRIPTURE…..
God Chooses Joshua
(1) Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister , saying ,
(2)Moses my servant is dead ; now therefore arise , go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
(3) Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon , that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
Joshua Succeeds Moses
(4) From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
(5) There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
(6) Be strong and of a good courage : for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
(7) Only be thou strong and very courageous , that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest .
(8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous , and then thou shalt have good success .
(9) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage ; be not afraid , neither be thou dismayed : for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest . Joshua 1:1-9 KJV
God Chooses Elisha
16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay : and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay .
18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth : and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said , Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again : for what have I done to thee?
21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat . Then he arose , and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him. 1 Kings 19:16-21 KJV
Elisha Succeeds Elijah
(1) And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
(2) And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
(3) And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said , Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace .
(4) And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said , As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
(5) And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered , Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace .
(6) And Elijah said unto him, Tarry , I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said , As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on .
(7) And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went , and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
(8) And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together , and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
(9) And it came to pass, when they were gone over , that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said , I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
(10) And he said , Thou hast asked a hard thing : nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
(11) And it came to pass, as they still went on , and talked , that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
(12) And Elisha saw it, and he cried , My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
(13) He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back , and stood by the bank of Jordan;
(14) And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said , Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over .
(15) And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said , The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him. 2 Kings 2:1-15 KJV
